Toivomuskaivo / Wishing Well

Toivomuskaivo saa motiivinsa ikiaikaisesta toivosta paremmasta tulevaisuudesta. Termi Toivomuskaivo juontaa juurensa eurooppalaiseen kansanperinteeseen, jossa uskottiin toiveiden toteutuvan uhrilahjaa vastaan.

Wishing Well draws its motive from an ancient hope for a better future. It is a fusion of a well, a classical sacred pillar, various fungi, and a pier post covered in seashells, which appears to have been submerged for a long time. The term “Wishing Well” originates from European folklore, where it was believed that wishes could come true in exchange for offerings. The climate crisis is also a water crisis: in some places, there is too much water, while in others, there is too little. In some areas, wells fill with dirty water, while in others, they dry up.
